Fresh salad to start.

Lasagne. Very good, but so small!

Pasta of the day. Seafood pasta with lots of breadcrumbs.

This dessert seems so Japanese to me.

I don't know why I am doing this.

Quiet at lunch and there are only ladies!

I think you need more wine.

Tucked just behind Roppongi Hills is L’Estasi; a fairly grand Italian restaurant that boasts a ridiculously large wine room and an outdoor eating space. As far as Italian food goes in Tokyo, this place is quite run-of-the-mill and offers good quality, if not that memorable dishes.

As usual, we went during lunch time to take advantage of their lunch specials – starting from ¥1500 for entree, pasta and coffee. The ¥2000 option came with antipasto plate, pizza or pasta, dessert and coffee. In hindsight, I wish I chose that option because after I ordered my cheapo lunch, I spied a pizza oven and I love a woodfired pizza probably more than most things in this world.

So whilst I wasn’t entirely l’ecstatic (see what I did there?) about this place, I have to say that it’s an impressive looking restaurant and I don’t think the lunch menu did it justice. Dinner with a bottle of wine in the outdoor area would be wonderful here, and I’d like to give it a try one day.
