Pizza – their specialty.
Speck and bocconcini. Gooey deliciousness.
Side salad.
Watching the guys make the pizzas was a highlight.
Chocolate Crepes with chantilly creme.
Haberfield is known for its good Italian food and after eating at La Disfida, we were having a little look at housing prices in the area. (Damn, it’s not cheap!)
La Disfida is an institution in Haberfield and is busy every night of the week. People come for the excellent, woodfired pizzas and the delicious Italian food so, of course, I was excited to venture out to Haberfield and try to eat as much as I could.
Pizzas are around the $22 mark and it was a great experience seeing them prepare it on the floor below and toss it into the woodfired oven. We ordered the Disfida (tomato, mozzarella, ham, smoked mozzarella, olives, anchovies and capers) and the classic Margherita (tomato, basil, mozzarella and olive oil). The bases were thin and soft, leaving the toppings to be the main feature. I can definitely see why people keep coming back here.
We also ordered bocconcini speck ($11) which was basically a melty, gooey bowl of cheese and ham. AMAZING. It’s not like you can go wrong with that. The side salad was ordered to get our vegetable intake in, but really, we were all about the pizzas and the bocconcini speck.
Feeling pretty full, but not too full to say no to dessert, I ordered Crepes al cioccolato con crema chantily (Chocolate Crepes with chantilly creme, $10). These were a pleasant surprise – chocolately with a hint of citrus, it really finished off the meal.
I’m such a sucker for a good pizza, and La Disfida makes a pretty mean one. I think I’ll have to make more trips out to Haberfield, even if I never do buy a house there.
