Spicy grilled salmon nigiri - my favourite!

Agedashi tofu. Love!

I didn't eat this so I'm not sure what it is. Kingfish, maybe?

Soft shell crab roll - another one of my favourites.

Blowtorch that sushi, sushi man!

Classic salmon. Never fails.

Prawn katsu rolls.

Today's special.

Salmon and avocado roll.

See, I wasn't lying!

I used to do Japanese lessons on a Monday night followed by some tasty Japanese food, which led to Mondays being fondly known as Japanese Mondays. I no longer do Japanese classes anymore (sigh), but I still do eat Japanese food nearly every Monday night because it’s nice to have a little weekly tradition to look forward to.

I usually find myself at Sushi Rio because I think it’s one of the best sushi trains in Sydney. Also the chefs are Japanese, the food is fresh and the plates are only $3 each. Only $3!!! This means I can order as much spicy grilled salmon as I want and dinner won’t cost much more than $20. What’s not to love about that?

They have a really great variety in the menu but I tend to just stick to the plates I love (grilled salmon, salmon and soft shell crab), because why change when you’re onto a good thing? So if you end up going down to Sushi Rio on a Monday night, chances are you’ll see me eating plate after plate of delicious, cheap sushi. Ahhh Japanese Mondays, I hope you never end!

What’s your favourite sushi? Mine is, without a doubt, grilled salmon nigiri.
