I’m a little embarrassed to admit it, but Vietnamese food is a fairly new addition to my life. Not that I ever had an aversion to it, I just never really had it until a few years ago. But now I seem to be eating it weekly, which I have no complaints about.
After my friends and I did our weekly running group, we decided to get Vietnamese with the boys. Vietnamese is perfect because I never feel heavy after it, so it didn’t feel like I was undoing all the hard work from the run!
Marrickville has a tonne of awesome Vietnamese restaurants and it’s not too much of a pain to drive to from the city, so I don’t know why I don’t go here more. PHD is a good choice with lots of tasty sounding dishes on the extensive menu. Most items range from about $10 going up to about $16, so a meal here isn’t going to hurt the wallet, which is good for me because I just bought a brand new MacBook Air (woo!).
So what should you order? Tough question. I mean, of course you should try to pho (number 14), it tastes so fresh and is full of spicy flavour but the vermicelli (number 50) with shredded pork, spring rolls and grilled pork is damn good too. My guess is that you can’t really go too wrong here, so go nuts.
