My boyfriend, Adam, recently went to the States (without me!) last month and has been so nice to offer to do some posts for my blog about his enviable eating experiences over there. This is part 1 of his eating adventures…

The little restaurant.
Buns!
Famous faces.
I always eat with Fashimi and kind of got used to how she did her posts, so I thought ‘Hey maybe I might just do mine own post’. I ate a fair bit while I was in New York but one of my favourite trips by far was to Flushing in Queens, New York.
There were a whole lot of food courts in Flushing but one had had a few pretty famous people grace its tiny chairs and super cheap food. Not that a place needs this to make it great, but it definitely helps when you know nothing about somewhere.
Xi’an Famous Foods was in the smallest food court I have ever been to in my life but they conveniently found plenty of room to hang the accolades which they have received on the walls. They say that the use odd family recipes passed down for years.
We got the most well known dishes from the menu, which is always a safe bet.
Stewed Pork burger ($2.50) was awesome. The pork had a typical chinese flavouring with a slightly crispy bun.
The Stewed ox tail was their ‘big one’ ($9.50). Heaps of meat on the tail and great flavour in the sauce.
The food gang.
Stewed Pork Noodles in Soup ($5.75).
The highlight was the Stewed Pork Noodles in Soup ($5.75). The noodles were made in house, which I guess we have all seen before, but I really liked the inconsistency and how they were just a little bit chewy. Pork was really soft and not too fatty. Possibly one of my favourite chinese dishes… Ever!
Living in Sydney I thought that we have some on the best Chinese food in the world, and I still do, but If this place was around the corner from my house I would find it hard to go anywhere else.
Unassuming doorway.
